![]() Golf World Names Duke's Blumenherst Women's Player of the Mid-Year

DURHAM, N.C.- Golf World announced its mid-season awards for the first half of the 2007-08 collegiate golf season on Friday with Duke junior Amanda Blumenherst named Women's Player of the Mid-Year. Blumenherst, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., posted a 69.58 stroke average and broke par in nine of her 12 stroke play rounds. She won the Mason Rudolph Women's Invitational, finished second at the Margaret Branch NCAA Fall Preview, won the Lady Tar Heel Invitational and finished tied for fifth at the Stanford Intercollegiate. Overall in the fall, she totaled seven rounds in the 60s, 10 rounds of even or under par and a total of 53 birdies. The reigning two-time National Player of the year, Blumenherst now has nine career college titles, second most in Duke history (12 - Mary Anne Widman). Golf World has also selected its Mid-Season All-American Team. The team consists of Blumenherst (Duke, Jr.), Stacy Lewis (Arkansas, Sr.), Sandra Gal (Florida, Sr.), Tiffany Joh (UCLA, Jr.), Laura Kueny (Michigan St., Soph.), Pernilla Lindberg (Oklahoma St., Jr.), Belen Mozo (Southern California, Soph.), Azahara Munoz (Arizona St., Jr.), Anna Nordqvist (Arizona St., Soph.), So-Hyun Park (Notre Dame, Fr.), Maria Jose Uribe (UCLA, Fr.) and Alison Walshe (Arizona, Sr.). Duke registered three victories out of a total of five tournaments in the fall. The Blue Devils are listed No. 1 in the most recent Golf World Coaches Poll. Duke will open the spring campaign Feb. 25-27 at the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson, Ariz.
