DURHAM, N.C. - For the second time this season, Duke University junior Amanda Blumenherst has been tabbed the Golfweek Player of the Week after the two-time National Player of the Year notched her second win of the season this past weekend at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational.

Blumenherst, who is from Scottsdale, Ariz., totaled rounds of 71, 68 and 70 for a total of seven-under-par, 209, to win by three strokes over Georgia's Alina Lee. In three tournaments so far this season, Blumenherst has totaled a 68.89 stroke average, 44 birdies and a total of 31-under-par scoring. She has also finished no lower than second in three events and of nine rounds as a junior, she has produced six in the 60s.

This past weekend, Blumenherst helped bring the Blue Devils back from being down by nine strokes midway through the third round to winning by two over Tennessee at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational. Duke turned in rounds of 302, 287 and 288 for a 54-hole total of 877.

Over her three-year career, she has now registered nine wins to move within three from tying Mary Anne Widman's Duke career mark of 12. Blumenherst's 22 top 10 finishes is already tied for seventh on the Blue Devil charts, while her 53 rounds of even or under par is third.

The honor for Blumenherst marks the second time this season she has been named Golfweek Player of the Week as she also earned the distinction on Sept. 17.

Duke will next travel to Palo Alto, Calif., on Oct. 19-21 to play in the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Stanford.
