NIAGARA FALLS, ONTARIO- The reigning National Player of the Year, Liz Janangelo, advanced to the weekend at the LPGA BMO Financial Group Canadian Women's Open by firing the second-lowest score on Friday with a 67 at the 6,544-yard, Par 72 Legends on the Niagara, Battlefield Golf Course in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Janangelo, a rising junior from West Hartford, Conn., is tied for 34th overall (143) in the tournament after carding six birdies and only one bogey on the day. In the first round she posted a 76. In ranking the amateurs in the tournament, Janangelo is tied for first with Paula Creamer.

Three other former Blue Devils also advanced to the weekend action as Beth Bauer is tied for 19th (141), Jean Bartholomew is tied for 26th (142) and Candy Hannemann is tied for 72nd (146).

Leading the tournament is Meg Mallon with a two-day total of 135. The tournament will go on through Sunday with 18 holes played each day.
