LEXINGTON, N.C. - Lorraine Ballerano and Molly Birmingham both shot 72 to tie for first place at the US Amateur Championship qualifying round at Sapona Country Club in Lexington, N.C. on July 6. The rising seniors on the NC State women's golf team have qualified for the U.S. Am, which will be held Aug. 1-7 at Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.

Ballerano, who hails from Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Birmingham, who calls Cornelius, N.C., home, join incoming Wolfpack freshman Lauren Doughtie in the US Am field. Doughtie qualified June 29 in Greenville, Del.
