NORTH PLAINS, OR. - Rising senior Leigh Anne Hardin carded a three-under-par round of 68 on Friday in the second round of the U.S. Women's Open and sits in tied 15th place at the Par 71, 6,550-yard Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. Hardin as well as teammate Liz Janangelo and former Blue Devils Candy Hannemann and Beth Bauer each advanced to weekend action.

Hardin, a Martinsville, Ind., product, made the cut for the first time in three chances after posting one eagle, three birdies and two bogies on the day. The eagle came on hole six, which is a par four, 411-yards. Hardin has a two-day total of 143 and is one of four golfers tied at one-over-par for the tournament. She is also tied with Aree Song as the low amateur for the tournament.

The 2001 NCAA Individual Champion, Hannemann posted a round of 69 on day two and is tied 19th individually with a 144. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil product posted seven birdies on the day.

Also, making the cut was Bauer and Janangelo with rounds of 75-73=148. It marks the first time Janangelo has made the cut at the U.S. Open in her third appearance. Both Bauer and Janangelo are tied 43rd at six-over-par.

Virada Nirapathpongporn and Jean Bartholomew each missed the cut with two-day totals of 150 and 161, respectively. Nirapathpongporn had rounds of 78-72 and missed the cut by one stroke, while Bartholomew finished with rounds of 79-82.

Mhairi McKay continues to lead the individual action with a six-under-par score of 136 and only five golfers enter the weekend with under-par scores. Only eight golfers recorded eagles during the first two days with Hardin and Nirapathpongporn each registering one.
