Seminole Golfer Katie Quinney Travels To Orient With NCAA All-Star Team
July 2, 2003 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State senior women's golfer Katie Quinney is participating on the NCAA All-Star Golf Team as the team plays a series of tournaments to the Orient to compete throughout the summer. She is one of only ten golfers playing in the month-long tour. During their stay in the Orient, the team will travel to Korea, Thailand, Japan and Hong Kong for the different events. The NCAA All-Stars will play in a total 16 different tournaments during their stay in the Orient. The events consist of pro-am and competitive matches against that country's all-stars. The United States Army, United States Air Force and United State Navy along with the LPGA and NCAA are among the major sponsors of the month long tour. Quinney, a senior from Atlantic Beach, Fla., has played in two US Women's Amateur Championships, competed in the NCAA Regional and Championship tournaments along with an ACC Championship tournament. During the Spring of 2002, she accomplished personal bests while competing at the Ryder/Florida Championship for single-round score (71), three-round tournament score (228), tournament score vs. par (+12) and individual finish (seventh).
