2007 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team Announced
June 28, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Eight golfers who earned All-Conference honors this past season secured spots on the 2007 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Golf Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Players earning All-Conference honors this past season were Duke's Amanda Blumenherst, Anna Grzebien, Jennifer Pandolfi and Alison Whitaker, Carolina Westrup from Florida State, Maryland's Kelly Calkin, Katie Miller from North Carolina and Virginia's Leah Wigger. Eleven golfers were repeat honorees from the 2006 inaugural All-ACC Academic team, which includes Duke's Blumenherst and Grzebien, Florida State's Whitney Brummett and Westrup, Maryland's Calkin and Kathryn Trotter, Sydney Crane from North Carolina, Stephanie Derrey from NC State, Virginia's Rachel Smith and Wigger and Margaret Simons from Wake Forest. Duke, the 2007 ACC and NCAA National Champions, and Virginia placed four golfers on the team. North Carolina and Maryland followed with three honorees, while Florida State and Wake Forest each landed two individuals on the All-ACC Academic Team. Rounding out the team with one selection apiece were Miami and NC State. Duke's Blumenherst has been the recipient of several national awards, one being the Honda Award for the top female collegiate golfer. The 2007 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf team is as follows:
