Former Carolina Golfer Marcy Hart Ties For Third Place At LPGA Event

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Marcy Hart, a former University of North Carolina golfer, tied for third place at the Wegmans LPGA Tournament by firing an 11-under-par 277, two strokes behind champion Jeong Jang. Hart, formerly Marcy Newton when she played at Carolina 1997-2000, fired rounds of 70-72-66-69.

This was Hart's best professional finish. Her previous best was a tie for ninth place at the 2004 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic. While at Carolina, Hart captured three tournament championships and won the 2000 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. She was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer and was the 1997 ACC Freshman of the Year.
