CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, COLO.-- For the second time in Duke women's golf history, a Blue Devil has finished second in the U.S. Women's Open as Brittany Lang carded a 72-hole total of 289 to finish in a tie for second place along with Morgan Pressel at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo.

A McKinney, Texas product, Lang collected an even-par 71 on Sunday and waited in the clubhouse for play to conclude. All she saw was Birdie Kim chip in from the sand trap on the 18th hole to win the 60th U.S. Open. It was six years ago when Jenny Chuasiriporn lost in a playoff at the U.S. Open while she was at Duke.

On Sunday, Lang notched four birdies including three on the back nine. Kim finished with a four-day total of 287 to win her first U.S. Open. Lang was tied for first among amateur players along with Pressel.

Both Candy Hannemann and Jean Bartholomew finished the weekend with rounds of 78. Hannemann posted a four-day total of 307 to finish 62nd and Bartholomew finished with a 309, which was 63rd. - d - u - k - e -
