Duke's Brittany Lang Falls In Quarterfinals of the WAPL
June 26, 2004 WILLIAMSBURG, VA.- Duke University rising sophomore Brittany Lang's run at the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links (WAPL) Championship came to an end on Saturday as she fell in the quarterfinals to In-Bee Park, 1up, in 22 holes at the 6,179-yard, Par 72 Green Course of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
Lang, a McKinney, Texas native, led the entire match and held a 2up lead going into the final two holes of competition, but Park birdied both the par-three hole 17 and par-five hole 18 to even the match and send it into extra holes.
Both golfers birdied the 19th and 20th holes of extra play and then had a par on the par-four hole 21 before Park had a birdie on the 22nd hole to win the match, 1up. Overall, Park birdied five of her last six holes to win the match.
The Women's Amateur Public Links is one of 13 national championships conducted by the United States Golf Association.
