Brittany Lang Advances To Quarterfinals At WAPL
June 25, 2004 WILLIAMSBURG, VA.-Brittany Lang continued her hot play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links (WAPL) by winning two match play contests on Friday to advance to the quarterfinals at the 6,179-yard, Par 72 Green Course of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
In the first match of the day, Lang never trailed against Jenny Suh as the rising sophomore at Duke won 3 & 2. A McKinney, Texas product, Lang connected on five birdies in the round, which was stopped after the 16th hole.
Lang went up against Janet Dyer in the third round later on in the afternoon. Dyer took the early lead with a birdie on the first hole but Lang evened the match on the par-four with a birdie of her own.
The 2004 National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) National Rookie of the Year, Lang never trailed the rest of the match winning 3 & 2 on the 16th hole. She carded four birdies on the afternoon to take the victory.
Lang will next battle the 2002 U.S. Girls Junior Champion In-Bee Park on Saturday at 8:00 a.m.
