Three Blue Devils Advance To Weekend Action At U.S. Open
June 24, 2005 CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, COLO.-- Duke's Brittany Lang, Candy Hannemann and Jean Bartholomew each made the cut at the 2005 U.S. Women's Open on Friday and will be playing on the weekend at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo. After being tied for the lead after the first day of action, Brittany Lang carded a five-over-par score of 77 and sits tied for 22nd with a two day total of 146. A McKinney, Texas product, Lang posted five birdies on day one but could manage only one on Friday. Hannemann, a two-time All-America from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, collected a round of 73 on day two and is tied for 43rd with a two-day total of 149. Also making the cut was Bartholomew with a 36-hole total of 150. Bartholomew had a 77 on the second day after turning in a 73 on Thursday. Virada Nirapathpongporn didn't make the cut after registering rounds of 80, 76.
