WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - After breaking the 36-hole qualifying record on Wednesday, Duke University rising sophomore Brittany Lang continued her stellar play in the first round of match play at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links (WAPL) with a 5 & 4 victory over Amber Jean Kuss in Williamsburg, Va.

The score remained 2up until the 12th hole where Lang turned up the heat with the first of three straight birdies to close out the match, 4 & 5, on the 14th hole.

Lang will next play Jenny Sugh on Friday at 7:30 a.m. Sugh picked up a 2 & 1 victory over Mina Harigae on Thursday to advance to the second round. The WAPL is being played at the 6,157-yard, Par 72 Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
