CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, COLO.-- In her first appearance in the U.S. Open, Duke's Brittany Lang carded a two-under-par round of 69 and is tied for the lead at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Cherry Hills Village, Colo. Lang is tied with Angela Stanford and Karine Icher for the lead.

The first day of action was called at 7:30 p.m. after a second weather suspension with 48 players remaining on the course.

Lang kicked off the day with a birdie on her first hole and went on to make birdies on holes six and seven before suffering a bogey on the par-four ninth. She made the turn at 33 and then played the final nine holes at even par. The McKinney, Texas, product headed to the 18th at three-under-par, but suffered a bogey on the par four.

Other Blue Devil golfers that competed on day one were Jean Bartholomew with a 73, Virada Nirapathpongporn with an 80 and Candy Hannemann is three-over-par through 13 holes.

The field consists of 156 golfers, which is broken down to 138 professionals and 18 amateurs. It will be a 72-hole tournament beginning on Thursday, June 23 going through Sunday, June 26.
