2006 All-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Six golfers who earned All-Conference honors this past season secured spots on the inaugural All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Women's Golf Team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. Each of the league's nine schools is represented on the team. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career. Players earning All-Conference honors this past season were Amanda Blumenherst and Anna Grzebian from Duke,Caroline Westrup from Florida State, Leah Wigger from Virginia and Amanda Goins and Nannette Hill from Wake Forest. Duke, the 2006 NCAA National Champion, and NC State placed two golfers on the team. Florida State led all schools with four honorees, while Maryland, Virginia and Wake Forest placed three individuals each on the All-ACC Academic Team. Rounding out the team with one selection apiece were Boston College, Miami and North Carolina. Duke's Amanda Blumenherst was selected as the National Player of the Year for both NGCA and Golfweek.
