Sophomore Lauren Doughtie defeated six-time North Carolina Women's Senior Champion, Patty Moore to advance to the next round of the 91st Women's Southern Amateur Golf Championship being held at the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst, N.C., on Tuesday, June 6. The rounds began on Monday and continue through Friday, June 9. Doughtie also won her match yesterday. Her teammates, now graduated Lorraine Ballerano, along with senior Nancy Mountcastle combined scores of 75 and 79, respectively, to win the team trophy for NC State. Incoming freshman Kathleen Strandberg also finished with a 79 on the day.
