Lang Fires 69 On Saturday And Is Tied For 11th Overall At Corning Classic
May 28, 2005 CORNING, N.Y. - After registering a three-under-par, 69, on Saturday, Duke's Brittany Lang now owns a three-day total of 211 to rank tied for 11th at the LPGA Corning Classic in Corning, N.Y., which is being played at the 6,062-Yard, Par 72 Corning Country Club. Lang, a McKinney, Texas, product, kicked off the day with a birdie on the first hole and then added two more on the fourth and fifth holes as she made the turn at three-under-par. She added two more birdies on the 12th and 17th holes, but a double-bogey on the 13th was the only problem on the day. Heading into the final 18 holes, Karine Icher leads the individual action with a 12-under-par total of 204 with Lang only seven strokes off the lead. Lang is the only amateur that made the cut in the tournament. She is coming off being named National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) First Team All-America as she finished tied for third, individually, at the NCAA Championship and led the Duke Blue Devils to a five-stroke victory at the NCAA Championship. - d - u - k - e -
