Women's Golf Remains In 21st Place In NCAA Championships

AUBURN, Wash. -- The 20th ranked Wake Forest women's golf team remains in 21st place after the third round of action in the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Wash. The Deacs shot 14-over par today for a 302-team score. The last round of the championships will be played tomorrow. Wake Forest will tee off again at 8 a.m. (PT) off the first tee with South Carolina and Washington. Junior Maria Beautell has steadily climbed the rankings this tournament, sitting in a 14-way tie for 27th place after shooting a 74 in the third round. Junior Nuria Clau slipped 10 spots to the tie for 27th after shooting a 76 on the day. Freshman Ashley Hoagland improved several spots to a seven-way tie for 89th place, 15-over for the tournament. Sophomore Deb Means tied her first round score of 76 for a tie for 100th place, shooting four-over par in the third round. Senior Katie Brenny rounds out the Deacon five, shooting a 77 to rank in a tie for 108th place after the third day. Arizona is still the team leader with only a two-stroke lead over Texas and a one-stroke lead over Duke. Virada Nirapathpongporn of Duke has taken the lead individually with a 207 three-day score.
