All-ACC Women's Golf Team Announced

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Atlantic Coast Conference Champion Wake Forest placed two players on the 2009 All-ACC Women’s Golf team as well as capturing Co-ACC Player of the Year honors in Natalie Sheary, and Coach of the Year honors for Dianne Dailey, as selected by the league’s nine head coaches.

Wake Forest was represented by sophomore ACC medalist winner Natalie Sheary and Nannette Hill, a senior, who both received their second straight accolades on the All-ACC team. This was Hill’s third appearance on the team.

Virginia was well-represented by three members on the team – sophomore Calle Nielson earned her second-straight honor while senior, Jennie Arseneault received her second All-ACC accolade, Fellow Virginia teammate, Whitney Neuhauser, a junior, received first-time honors.

Duke and North Carolina placed two players each on the team. Duke senior, Amanda Blumenherst, who secured the prestigious Co-ACC Player of the Year award with Wake Forest’s Sheary, received her fourth straight All-ACC accolade. Duke’s Jennie Lee also secured a spot on the team- her fourth straight honor. North Carolina freshman, Catherine O’Donnell captured ACC Freshman of the Year honors as well as securing a spot on the team. Fellow freshman teammate, Allie White joined O’Donnell for the first time on the All-ACC team.

Three teams – Florida State, Maryland, and NC State – rounded out the 12-member team with one selection each.

Florida State senior Caroline Westrup secured her fourth straight All-ACC honor. Jessica Hollandsworth, a freshman from Maryland, received her first All-ACC honor while NC State’s senior Lauren Doughtie received her second straight such honor.

Dianne Dailey, Wake Forest, was chosen as the league’s Coach of the Year, her third such honor in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Wake Forest claimed its fourth championship title and third under Dailey. The title was the first for Wake Forest since winning back-to-back titles in 1994 and 1995.
