24th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship
GREENSBORO, NC - North Carolina will begin its quest to defend its 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference women's golf title tomorrow on the first day of action at the 2012 ACC Women's Golf Championship, being held Friday through Sunday, April 13-15, at Sedgefield Country Club, (Par 71, 6,163 yards), in Greensboro, N.C.
Wake Forest senior Cheyenne Woods (Phoenix, Ariz.) was last year's medalist winner.
Boston College, Miami and NC State will be in the first group which starts at 8:30am. The second wave of Maryland, Florida State and Wake Forest will start at 9:20am and the final group will include Virginia, Duke and North Carolina with a scheduled tee time start of 10:10am.

Attached are the first round pairings for Friday, April 13. Tee times for Friday and Saturday will start at 8:30am. Sunday's tee times will begin at 8:00am. The championship is free and open to the public.
Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC will be the host for the fourth-straight time for this year's ACC Championship...North Carolina captured their second team title at the 2011 championship....Duke won the championship from 1996 through 2008; Duke boasts the most league titles with sixteen, followed by Wake Forest with five and North Carolina with two... Wake Forest won back to back championships in 2009-10 and 1994-95...Virginia's second place finish in 2010 marked the third time since 2006 the Cavaliers have placed second at the championship... Maryland placed fourth in 2006, its highest finish ever in the ACC tournament...Florida State has placed second as a team three times in the history of the championship... Florida State's second-year coach Amy Bond was a four-year letterwinner (1996-99) and an assistant coach for the Seminoles (2003-06)....NC State's Head Coach Page Marsh finished third individually as a player for the University of North Carolina in the first ACC Championship played in 1984...Patti Rizzo, Miami's second-year coach was a 1981 collegiate All-American at Miami....Miami placed fifth in 2005, its highest finish ever in the ACC Championship...In 2009, Boston College claimed its low individual scorer at the ACC Championship with Eunice Yim (T29th).
ACC Community Connections: The ACC, on behalf of our women's golf teams, will donate a variety of children's books to Cone Elementary School in Greensboro, N.C. as part of ACC Community Connections initiative. The Atlantic Coast Conference instituted an initiative known as ACC Community Connections, which pairs ACC teams and local schools to teach the importance of reading and other life lessons to the children in our championship communities. Third grade teacher Elena Brown will accept the donation of books in a brief ceremony Sunday, at the 18th green of Sedgefield Country Club, just before the championship trophy presentation.
