Wake Forest Women Tied for Ninth After 36 Holes at SMU/OSU Challenge

PALOS VERDES, Calif. - The Wake Forest women's golf team matched its first-round score over the second 18 holes of play and is tied for ninth place after 36 holes at the SMU/OSU Challenge. The 54-hole event is being contested at the par-71, 5,912-yard layout of the Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes, Calif.

The Demon Deacons finished the first 36 holes of play with a team total of 306-306=612. That total puts them 14 strokes behind team leader Arizona State which stands at 299-299=598. Stacy Prammanasudh of Tulsa is the individual leader at 68-72=140 and kept her two-stroke advantage.

Sophomore Marta Prieto (Sevilla, Spain) leads the Demon Deacon contingent in the field as she carded a 1-over par 72 on Tuesday to stand in a three-way tie for ninth place at 76-72=148. Joining Prieto in the tournament's top 20 is junior Kelly Kirwin (Grand Rapids, MN), who is one of five players tied for 14th place at 74-76=150. Senior Kristen Wagner (Martinsville, IN) is the next WFU individual in the field as she is part of a eight-way logjam in 46th place at 79-78=157. Rounding out the Deacons in the field are freshman Nicole Faniola (Old Lyme, CT), who is tied for 54th place at 77-81=158 and Katie Brenny (Little Falls, MN), who is tied for 63rd place at 80-80=160.

The SMU/OSU Challenge concludes tomorrow with the third and final round of play.
