Women's Golf Takes Ninth At Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Maryland women's golf team shot a 313 in the final round of the Lady Pirate Fall Intercollegiate to finish in ninth place. The Terps improved one stroke from their second-round total, but could not move up in the standings, as they stood in ninth place for all three rounds of the tournament. Senior captain Erin Clasper (North Potomac, Md.) led Maryland in 15th place, the first time a Terp has finished a tournament in the top 20 this season. She fired a six-over-par 77 in the final round after carding a 78 and 75 in the first two rounds for a total of 230. Junior Marie Harper (West Point, Va.) climbed three places to tie for 38th. She shot a 78 in the third round, her best score of the tournament, and finished with a collective 241. Junior Stacey Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) fired an 80 for the second consecutive round to finish with a total of 244, tying for 45th place. Senior Carter Crowther (Kilmarnock, Va.) was just one stroke behind Wolejko after carding a 78 in the final round. Crowther climbed seven spots to finish tied for 48th. Tied for 52nd place, sophomore Kristen Shew (Hockessin, Del.) shot an 87 for a collective 248. Host East Carolina held on to win the 16-team field. The Pirates led all three rounds of their tournament. The Terps will take two weeks off before returning to the course Nov. 14-15 for the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Invitational in Kiawah Island, S.C.
