UNC Wins Lady Seminole Invitational
September 20, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Led by Marcy Newton in second place and Shelly McKevitt in third, the UNC women's golf team finished first in a field of 21 teams at the Lady Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla. The tournament was played on the 5,925-yard, par-72 layout at the Seminole Golf Course. The Tar Heels finished with a 54-hole total of 871, 14 strokes ahead of host Florida State. Wake Forest finished eighth with a team total of 898, or 34-over par. Individual champion Jenny Dugan of Kentucky scorched the Seminole Golf Course for a eight-under-par total of 66-72-70=208, four strokes ahead on UNC's Newton. Next weekend, UNC hosts the the Lady Tar Heel Invitational at the Chapel Hill Country Club.
