Hannemann Heads Into Final Round Tied For 31st

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. -- Duke University junior Candy Hannemann heads into the final round of the U.S. Women's Open tied for 31st after posting a two-over-par 72 on Saturday. For the tournament she has fired rounds of 73, 73, 72 for a 218. The tournament is being played at the 6,256 yard, par-70 Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C. Hannemann is one of only four amateurs to make the cut at the women's open this year and heads into the final round as the top amateur. The Rio de Janeiro, Brazil native, is coming off winning the 2001 NCAA Championship individual crown in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. Former Blue Devil Jean Bartholomew is in tied for 49th place after posting rounds of 70-75-76=221 and Duke freshman Leigh Anne Hardin (Martinsville, Ind.) did not make the cut after notched rounds of 78-77=155.
Hannemann will tee off at 11:00 AM on Sunday.
