Quoting Duke Head Coach Dan Brooks
"I think we are eight shots back and that is one player on a couple of holes. Especially when you are playing at 4,200 feet in the state of Oregon in late May. We are going to be playing in some gusty winds throughout this tournament. That wind is going to sneak up and get some people. It is going to come down to who can stay patient and who can deal with it when those things do grab you a little bit. I don't see that as any great margin."

"Well, I had one of those days where I got to see almost all good stuff. I saw puts falling in. If I hadn't seen a scoreboard, I would of thought we were about 10-under-par. I really liked what I saw. I saw good ball striking and was really happy with Candy Hannemann. She has had some difficulty this spring and I told her I thought she had the best tempo I've seen since I have been watching her play golf. She really set her mind to have good tempo today. That has probably made me as happy as anything today."

Quoting Duke's Beth Bauer
"I am pleased [with her first round]. It was a tough day with the late tee time and the winds definitely came up a couple of times and it was hard to stop it on the green. A couple of times I hit short of the green on purpose. Yea, I am really pleased with my even par day."
