WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. - North Carolina's women's golf team fired a 299 in the final round for a 1241 total and finished in 13th place at the NCAA Championships. Southern California held onto its lead over the 24 teams with a 45-over-par 1197 total after firing a 296 in the final round. Pepperdine finished 15 shots back in second place with a 1212 total while Texas placed third at 1213, Ohio State finished fourth at 1214 and Oklahoma State and UCLA tied for fifth place with 1216 totals. Arizona posted the day's low round of 290 and tallied a 1217 for a seventh-place finish.

Mikaela Parmlid of Southern California and Andrea Vander Lende of Florida concluded regulation play tied for the individual title with 297 totals after each carded a five-over 77. Parmlid defeated Vander Lende on the first playoff hole to capture the individual championship. Erica Blasberg of Arizona fired a three-under 69, the day's low round, to finish with a 298 total and tied for third place with Southern California's Irene Cho. Kim Welch of Washington State tallied a fifth-place finish with a 299 total.

Carolina's Meaghan Francella carded a 75 in the final round for a 305 total and tied for 28th place. Ashley Prange finished three shots back at 308 after posting a one-over 73, the low round of the day for the Tar Heels, and tied for 47th place. Abby Spector fired a 76 and tied for 73rd place with a 314 total while Meghan Adams posted a 77 for a 317 total and tied for 81st place and Beth Marushak posted a 320 total and finished in 87th place after carding a 75 on the final day.

"I'm really proud of the team and the way we fought back into the top 15," says North Carolina Head Coach Sally Austin after Carolina posted its highest NCAA finish since 1995. "It was a team effort and I'm really proud of the girls for hanging in there, especially after getting off to a rough start today."

The 72-hole event was played at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course which features a par 72, 6,225-yard layout.
