WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Florida State senior All-America candidate Kristin Tamulis fired a two-over par 74 to lead the Seminole women¡¯s golf team to their best team round of the week, 306, as the team held its 21st-position in the team standings at the NCAA Division I Women¡¯s golf Championship at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex. Tamulis is in a tie for 25th place with a three-day total of 230 heading into Friday¡¯s final round.

Southern California continued to hold its team lead while Mikaela Parmlid of USC and Andrea Vander Lende of Florida are tied for first in the individual standings. Southern California has led the entire tournament and leads Pepperdine by seven strokes entering Friday¡¯s final round. Parmlid and Vander Lende are tied with three-round scores of 220 and are one stroke ahead of Annie Thurman of Oklahoma State.

Tamulis (Naples, Fla.) carded a 74 and was followed by teammates Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) and Alison Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) who also carded personal tournament best scores of 76. Tamulis¡¯ 74 was five strokes better than her second round score of 79; Quinney¡¯s 76 was eight strokes better than her first round score of 84 and Curdt¡¯s score was 10 strokes better than her first round score of 86. As a team, the Florida State has improved its score in both of the last two rounds. After shooting an opening round 329 the Seminoles have improved each day with a 318 (11 stroke improvement) in the second round and a tournament-best 306 (12 stroke improvement) in Thursday¡¯s third round. Florida State has shaved 23 strokes from its first round score through rounds two and three.

Tamulis played her best round of the tournament as she carded a two-over par 74 after averaging 78.00 strokes during the first two rounds. Tamulis leads the team this spring with 12 rounds (in 18 total) with scores of 75 or better this spring. She birdied three holes and was even on 11 others in resuming her climb back towards the top of the individual leaderboard.

Juniors Quinney and Curdt were also at their best in the third round. Quinney, who had averaged 82.00 strokes per round through the first 36 holes, carded a 76. It marked the sixth time she had carded a single-round score of 76 or better in 18 rounds this spring. Curdt also continued her strong improvement with a four-over par score of 76 after averaging 85.00 strokes during he first two rounds.

Junior Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) also played well as she carded an eight-over par 80 in the third round. She has now carded two consecutive scores of 80 after opening the tournament with an 85.

Freshman Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden), who fired a career-low 68 in the final round of the NCAA East Regional, shot an 80 in the third round. She carded a personal tournament best 79 in the second round.

The championship comes to an end Friday with the final 18 holes scheduled to be played. It will mark the first time any of the five Seminoles competing at the event have played a four-day, 72-hole event during their collegiate careers.
