UNC Women's Golf Team Tied For Fourth At NCAA Championship
The University of North Carolina women's golf team, which led for much of the day, carded a 301 in the second round for a 600 total and is in a three-way tie for fourth place. Two Tar Heels, Catherine O'Donnell and Sydney Crane, are tied for ninth place in the individual race.

The Tar Heels, playing in the first afternoon wave, were one-under on the front nine and led the 24-team field much of the day. However, Carolina faltered some on the back nine losing several shots and finishing at 13-over 301. But the Tar Heels are still in the hunt, just 11 shots behind team leader UCLA with two rounds left to play.

Carolina's Sydney Crane and Catherine O'Donnell are tied for ninth place with three-over 147 totals. Crane, a senior from Jamestown, N.C., had the best round of the day for Tar Heels, firing an even par 72. O'Donnell, the co-leader entering the second round, carded a five-over 77 on Wednesday. She struggled a bit on the back nine (+6) after playing the front nine in one-under. Junior Kate Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, also shot a 77 in the second round for a 153 total and is tied for 48th place. Freshman Allie White and senior Lauren Hunt both carded a four-over 76 on Wednesday. White, from Lancaster, Ohio, has a 154 total and is tied for 66th while Hunt, from Little River, S.C., is three shots back at 157 in a tie for 86th place. 

Hill Continues Hot Start At NCAA Women's Golf Championships
Senior Nannette Hill continues to play well, firing a round of 1-under 71 to lead the Wake Forest women's golf team to a 300 in the second round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at the Caves Valley Golf Club.

After posting a round of 303 in the afternoon on Tuesday, the Deacons went out in the first group off the front nine this morning but got off to a slow start. The team was 9-over through the first eight holes but regrouped and finished the last ten holes at just 4-over.

When the Deacs left the course after their morning round, they were in a tie for 15th but plenty of teams had yet to even start their rounds. The winds picked up a bit throughout the afternoon and the scores went up. Wake moved up to seventh place by days end and at 27-over par, is now just five shots out of third place.

Cavaliers Remain in Ninth Place at NCAA Championships
The third-ranked Virginia women's golf team stayed in ninth place after the second round of play at the NCAA Championships at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. The Cavaliers shot 14-over 302 for a 36-hole total of 607 at the midway point of the tournament.

Second-ranked UCLA shot the lowest round of the tournament, a 5-over 293, to wrestle the lead away from Denver. At 589, the Bruins are seven shots ahead of cross-town rival USC, the 2008 NCAA Champions. Denver shot 16-over 304 and dropped back to third place at 598. Among the other ACC schools in the field, North Carolina is tied for fourth at 600 while Wake Forest is seventh at 603. Duke finished the second round in 12th place at 609.

The Cavaliers' second-round score was three shots better than their opening round effort. Virginia used birdies by Lene Krog, Kristen Simpson and Calle Nielson on the par-5 17th hole to finish the round on a strong note.

Blue Devils Conclude Second Round Of The NCAA Championship
The Duke women's golf team shot seven strokes better than day one and moved up two spots to 12th overall at the 2009 NCAA Championship on Wednesday, which is being played at the 6,443-yard, Par 72 Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Md. The Blue Devils carded a 13-over-par, 301, on day two and owns a 36-hole total of 609, which is 20 strokes off the lead.

When Duke teed off No. 10 at 1:20 p.m., on Wednesday, the Blue Devils sat tied for fifth overall. Duke moved as high as fifth but lost ground for the second straight day towards the end of the round. Of the four counting scorers, the foursome made nine bogeys over the final nine holes, while registering zero birdies.

UCLA, which was paced by sophomore Maria Jose Uribe's six-under-par, 66, on Wednesday, owns the lead with a 13-over-par, 589. Southern California (596), Denver (598), Arizona State (600), Oklahoma State (600), North Carolina (600), Wake Forest (603), LSU (606), Virginia (607) and Alabama (607) rounded out the top 10. Purdue (607) is 11th and Duke is 12th with a 609, which is 33-over-par.
