BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - North Carolina and Wake Forest tied for ninth place at 914 total at the NCAA Women's Golf East Regional, missing the cut by just two strokes. The top eight teams, including Duke and Florida State, advanced to the NCAA Championships in Tulsa, Okla., in two weeks.

Georgia won the team title with an 884 total, just one stroke ahead of Furman which finished with an 885. Louisiana State placed third at 893 while Duke was fourth at 894 and Florida State finished fifth at 901.

It marked the second straight year that the Deacs missed the NCAA cut by just one place after having advanced in each of the previous five years; last season the team also finished ninth, missing the cut by three strokes.

A trio of players tied for the individual title at one-under-par 215 -- Kelly Lagedrost of South Florida, Beth Bauer of Duke and Jennifer Perri of Furman. Louisiana State's Tina Howard and Furman's Stacey Burnett finished two shots back in a tie for fourth place with 217 totals. Shauna Estas of Georgia placed sixth at 218 while Vanderbilt's Mallory Crosland, Memphis' Natalie Tucker and Louisiana State's Lisette Lee tied for seventh place with 219 totals.

Lagedrost and Crosland won the two NCAA individual berths as the top two individuals not on one of the top eight teams also advance to the NCAA Championships.
