Wake Forest Finishes Third At Central Regional, Advances To NCAA Championships
On a very windy Saturday, the Wake Forest women's golf team posted the second-lowest round to finish third at the NCAA Central Regional and advance to the NCAA Championship for the fourth-straight year.

The Demon Deacons started the day in fourth place, trailing third-place Oklahoma State by four shots. Wake used a total team effort to post a round of 306 in gusty conditions to overtake the Cowgirls and move into third place, securing the Demon Deacons' 12th trip to the NCAA Championships.

Sophomore Allie Bodemann had the round of the day for the Demon Deacons, carding a 3-over 75. She started the day with three bogies but got her round on the right track with a birdie at the par-5 14th.

She did it again.

Last year the Virginia women's golf team needed a sizzling finish by Joy Kim at the NCAA Regional to help propel the team to the NCAA Championships. Kim fired off five birdies over her final nine holes at the University of Georgia Golf Course to help the Cavaliers to a fifth-place finish.

Saturday morning Kim was just impressive in closing out her final round at this season's NCAA East Regional Championship at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. She managed birdies on her final three holes to help Virginia earn a spot in the NCAA Championships. The Cavaliers placed fourth overall at 874 to secure one of the eight berths to the national championships. 

UNC Women's Golf Team Ties For Sixth At NCAA East Regional
The University of North Carolina women's golf team fired a seven-over-par 287 for an 881 total to tie for sixth place at the NCAA East Regional thus advancing on to the NCAA Championship. The Tar Heels' 287 in the final round was the second lowest score of the day - Denver fired a one-under 279 and Virginia equaled Carolina's 287.

Freshman Allie White led the Tar Heels in the final round, firing a one-under-par 69. White, from Lancaster, Ohio, finished with an eight-over 218 total to tie for 15th place along with teammate Catherine O'Donnell. O'Donnell, a freshman from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., carded a five-over 75 on Saturday after suffering a double-bogey on the last hole. Senior Sydney Crane, from Jamestown, N.C., posted a 73 in the final round for a 222 total to tie for 34th place. Lauren Hunt, a senior from Little River, S.C., shot her best score of the tournament, a one-over 71, to finish at 224 in a tie for 46th. Junior Kate Thomas, from Murwillumbah, Australia, carded a four-over 74 to finish with a 232 total in a tie for 76th place.

Denver fired a one-under 279 in the final round and came from eight strokes down to pass Alabama for the team title. Denver finished with a 22-over 862 total, four strokes ahead of Alabama's 866. Tennessee finished in third place with an 873 total while Virginia finished fourth at 874 and Tulane fifth at 876. Carolina and Duke tied for sixth place at 881 while Georgia was the final team to make the cut for NCAAs, finishing eighth at 889. 

Duke Women's Golf Advances To 12th Straight NCAA Championhip
For the 12th straight year, the Duke women's golf team will be heading to the NCAA Championship as the Blue Devils carded a final round 10-over-par, 290, and finished tied for sixth at the NCAA East Regional with a 54-hole total of 881 at the 6,044-yard, par 70 Mark Bostick Golf Course at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.

Duke was in a tight battle all morning for one of the top eight positions, but pulled away late to finish in a tie for sixth along with North Carolina. Taking home the team title was Denver with a total of 862, after Pioneers turned in a tournament-best one-under-par, 279, on Saturday. Alabama (866) finished second, while Tennessee (873), Virginia (874), Tulane (876), Duke (881), North Carolina (881) and Georgia (889) rounded out the top eight teams who advanced to the NCAA Championship.

Denver sophomore Dawn Shockley turned in a tournament-best four-under-par, 66, on Saturday on her way to winning the individual title with a three-day total of 209 

Seminole Women's Golf Team Finishes In 15th Place At NCAA East Regional Championship
Senior All-American Caroline Westrup and freshman Whitney Wenglasz carded identical scores of 74 to lead the Florida State women's golf team through the third and final round of the 2009 NCAA East Regional Championship at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. The Seminoles, however, finished in 15th place in the team standings and fell just short of qualifying for the NCAA championship round.

The University of Denver, which was led by the individual medalist Dawn Shockley, won the regional championship by four strokes over the University of Alabama. Joining Denver and Alabama in the national championship as representatives of the East Region are Tennessee, Virginia, Tulane, Duke, North Carolina and Georgia. Shockley carded a finished with a one-under par total of 209 to win the regional championship.

Westrup saw her collegiate career come to an end as she finished in a tie for 30th place in the individual standings with an 11-over par total of 221 for the three round event. She carded scores of 73-74-74. Westrup carded two birdies and nine holes of par in her final round as a Seminole. 

NC State Women's Golf Finishes 15th at NCAA Regional
The NC State women's golf team finished in 15th place at the NCAA Central Regional at the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University.

The Wolfpack finished the three-day, 54-hole event with a team score of +90 (312-307-335=954).

Junior Emily Street was the top finisher for the Wolfpack - placing tied for 46th at +18 (78-75-81=234).
