Tar Heels Finish Tied For Fourth At Rain-Shortened Liz Murphey Classic Freshman Catherine O'Donnell and junior Kate Thomas finished in a tie for fourth and led the Tar Heels. O'Donnell and Thomas finished tied for fifth place after firing two-over-par 74s. Lauren Hunt, a senior from Little Rive, S.C., carded a five-over 77. Hunt finished in a tie for 30th place. Senior Sydney Crane and Allie White, a freshman from Lancaster, Ohio, fired rounds of 79. Crane and White were seven-over par for a 50th place finish. UVa Golfers Finish Eighth at Rain-Shorten Liz Murphey Classic Virginia was led by the fifth-place finishes of Calle Nielson and Jennie Arseneault. The two UVa competitors finished at 2-over 74. It was Nielson’s third straight top-five outing this spring and the seventh top-10 result in her career. Arseneault’s finish tied as the best during her career and marked the ninth time she has produced a top-10 showing. Lene Krog was 30th for the Cavaliers at 77 while Whitney Neuhauser shot 81 to finish 67th and Kristen Simpson carded an 82 to place 75th. Joy Kim, playing as a non-scoring individual, was 88th at 85. Silva Leads Seminoles In Only Round Of Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Auburn, which placed three players in the top five of the individual standings, earned the team title with a three stroke win over Kent State and Alabama. Kathleen Ekey of Alabama won the individual title with a three-under par score of 69. She defeated Kirby Dreher of Kent State by one stroke to claim medalist honors. Silva was at or below par on 14 of her 18 holes and was even par over her final 15 holes of the afternoon. After birdying her first hole she double-bogeyed her second hole and bogeyed her third hole to move to two over par. Silva carded two birdies, two bogeys and 11 holes of par to close out the round. She was two under par over her final nine holes. Wake Forest Women's Golf Finishes 12th at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic The Demon Deacons, who were lead by sophomore Natalie Sheary's 2-over 74, carded a round of 309 (+21) and tied with ACC-foe Florida State. Auburn won the team title, holding off North Carolina over the final holes, to post a round of 299. Alabama's Kathleen Ekey made four birdies and just one bogey to shot a 3-under 69 to take home medalist honors.
