ACC Leads All Conferences with 33 Regional NFHCA Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Thirty-three Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey student-athletes were named to NFHCA Division 1 All-Region teams, which were announced Thursday. The total is the most for any conference in the nation, leading the Big Ten’s 24 and America East’s 19. Of the 33 honorees, 22 were first-team selections and 11 were second team. Maryland led the league with nine selections, while North Carolina had seven and Duke had six. Boston College had five players honored, followed by Wake Forest with four and Virginia with two. The nine honors for the Terrapins were the most for any team in the nation. Duke (5), North Carolina (5), Wake Forest (2), and Virginia (1) combined to give the ACC 13 of the possible 16 first-team selections in the South Region. The league had 6 student-athletes named to the South Region Second Team, including two each from North Carolina and Wake Forest and one each from Duke and Virginia.
