Virginia's Floor Vogels Named ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Floor Vogels, a freshman defender from Nijmegen, Netherlands, has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. Vogels earns her first league recognition in the final week of the regular season. Vogels scored the game winning goal in No. 13 Virginia's 4-3 win over No. 4 ranked Duke on Saturday. She netted her sixth goal of the season with just over 13 minutes remaining in the match. It was her third game-winning goal of the year. Vogels also had an assist, taking part in the Cavaliers third goal of the match. Virginia enters the ACC Field Hockey Championship as the No. 4 seed, facing off against the host, No. 5 seed Duke in the opening match. The match gets underway on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m., followed at 4 p.m. when No. 3 seed Wake Forest faces No. 6 seed Boston College. Top seed Maryland will face the winner of the early game while No. 2 seeded North Carolina will face the winner of the Thursday's late game on Friday evening. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Duke Athletics Ticket Office. Single session tickets are $5 while complete championship packages are $10.
