Nov. 2, 2010
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College forward/midfielder Janna Anctil scored five goals over two games and has been tabbed the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week.
A senior from Wolfeboro, N.H., Anctil notched a hat trick in the Eagles’ 5-0 win at Harvard on Wednesday.
Facing league opponent Wake Forest on Friday in her final regular season collegiate game, Anctil scored the game-winner with nearly a minute left in the game to give the Eagles a 3-2 victory over the visiting Demon Deacons.
Anctil scored in the 31st minute to give Boston College a 2-0 advantage, but Wake Forest erased the deficit and tied the game at two all with less than four minutes remaining.
With the clock winding down, Anctil connected on a shot from in front of the net, clinching the victory for Boston College. It marked the Eagles’ first victory against Wake Forest since the teams’ first meeting in 1997.
She currently has 90 career points heading into the postseason, which ties her for sixth in the school’s all-time record book.
