![]() 2001 All-ACC Field Hockey Team Announced
Nov. 1, 2001 GREENSBORO, N.C. - The North Carolina Tar Heels led the 2001 All-ACC Field Hockey team with five selections while the Maryland Terrapins and Wake Forest Demon Deacons placed four members on the team. The Duke Blue Devils had one player named to this year's squad. Wake Forest's Jemima Cameron and Maryland's Autumn Welsh earned Co-Player of the Year honors. Cameron, a senior from Perth, Australia, had eight goals and six assists from her midfield position in 2001. She has registered 93 career points (35 goals, 23 assists) and has been named All-ACC for the third time. Maryland's Welsh, a senior from Macungle, Pa., is part of a talented defense that ranks No.1 nationally with a 0.75 goals against average. A four-time All-ACC honoree, she was named ACC Player of the Week on Oct. 22. Welsh has two goals and 10 assists on the season. Mayland's Missy Meharg earned 2001 Coach of the Year honors after leading the Terrapins to a 15-3 regular season record and a 3-1 mark in league play. The Terrapins are currently ranked No. 1 in the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Poll.
