Boston College's Kristine Stigas and Maryland's Alicia Grater Picked ACC Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Maryland senior goalkeeper Alicia Grater and Boston College senior goalkeeper were honored as Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Players of the Week, announced today. Grater guided the top-ranked Terrapins to a league victory against second-ranked North Carolina (Oct. 24), while Stigas helped the 10th-ranked Eagles to a win against fifth-ranked Syracuse (Oct. 25). Grater helped Maryland improve to 17-0 for the first time in school history with a 4-1 win over the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Gilbertsville, Pa. native faced 21 shots, including 13 on goal, and recorded a career-high 12 saves, as the top-ranked Terrapins concluded the conference schedule with a 5-0 record and the ACC regular-season title. Grater has logged 1,095 minutes in goals and ranks second nationally by saving 86 percent of the shots she faces. She has given up just 12 goals over 17 games for a 0.77 goals against average to rank fifth.
Maryland will conclude regular-season play by hosting Stanford on Friday, October 30 at the Maryland Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex at 7 p.m. Boston College will host Harvard at Newton Campus Field on Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m., and will conclude its season on Saturday, October 31 in Winston-Salem, N.C. with a conference game against Wake Forest at Kentner Field at 1 p.m. The ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week will be announced by 5 p.m. each Tuesday during the season.
