GREENSBORO, N.C. - Katelyn Falgowski, a freshman out of Landenburg, Pa., has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. A starting midfielder for the No. 1 ranked Tar Heels, Falgowski becomes the third North Carolina athlete to earn the distinction this season.

In the showdown last Saturday against the previously undefeated, second-ranked Maryland Terrapins, Falgowski led North Carolina to a 3-0 win with outstanding play on both the offensive and defensive ends. Offensively, she tallied one goal and one assist, putting her stamp on each of the Tar Heels' first two goals. Defensively, she was part of a unit that held the Terrapins without a penalty corner or shot throughout the game.

With the win against the Terps, North Carolina is 17-0 for the season with a perfect 5-0 record in the conference. With the ACC regular season championship, and the league tournament top seed, already sewn up, the Tar Heels will have one remaining game, against Old Dominion this Saturday, before entering the postseason.
