GREENSBORO, N.C. - Kate Scholl a senior from East Greenville, Pa., has been selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. Scholl plays back and midfield for the fifth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels and earns her first career player of the week honor.

Scholl scored her first goal since 2006 in the 67th minute of North Carolina's 3-0 win over No. 13 ranked Virginia. On Sunday, Scholl extended her scoring streak to two straight games with a 57th minutes game winning goal to lift the Tar Heels over No. 6 ranked James Madison. The clinching goal was her eighth career goal and second of the season. Scholl also assisted with the Tar Heel defensive effort that did not allow a goal over the weekend and has not allowed a goal in the last 208:24 of play.

The No. 5-ranked Tar Heels will visit No. 1 Maryland this weekend for the match that will decide the ACC regular-season title. Both teams are 3-1 in league play entering the penultimate weekend of the regular season. The match will begin on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Duke University will host the 2008 ACC Field Hockey Championships at Williams Field. The 2008 edition begins on Thursday, Nov. 5 and concludes on Sunday, Nov. 8. Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the Duke Athletics Ticket Office. Single session tickets are $5 while complete championship packages are $10. Discounts are available for students, children and seniors.
