GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland freshman Katie O'Donnell was today named Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week, garnering the title for the third time this season.
O'Donnell, a forward/midfielder from Blue Bell, Pa., was the most dominant player on the field in the Terps' two big wins over Duke and Boston University last week. Against No. 12 Duke on Saturday, she tallied one goal and two assists, boosting the Terrapins to a 4-2 victory. Versus BU on Sunday, she scored her team's first goal in what would be a 3-1 win over the No. 14 Terriers.
Fourteen games into the season, O'Donnell has scored 14 goals and added 14 assists for a total of 42 points. She currently ranks first in goals scored, second for assists, and leads the league in overall points.
Still perfect this season (14-0) and holding down the No. 2 ranking in the nation, the Terps will look to notch another two victories this week against Old Dominion and Delaware. They will host ODU at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and then will travel to Delaware for 1:00 p.m. showdown on Sunday.
