Virginia's Puffenberger Earns ACC Field Hockey Player Of The Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia forward Tara Puffenberger scored four goals in victories over two ranked teams en route to being tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week. A sophomore from Dallas, Pa., Puffenberger tallied her first career hat trick with three goals against No. 12 Ohio State, as third-ranked Virginia downed the Buckeyes, 4-2. She connected on all three of her shots on goal and became the second Cavalier to notch a hat trick this season. In the Cavaliers’ 2-1 win against No. 9 Syracuse, Puffenberger found the back of the net late in the first half to tie the game at one. The game went to overtime, and Virginia prevailed 2-1. The ACC Field Hockey Player of the Week will be announced by 5 p.m. each Tuesday throughout the season.
