CHESTNUT HILL, MA - Boston College field hockey players Crystal Frates, Caitlyn Young and Julia Berkowitz were named to the 22-player roster for the New England team as part of the USA Field Hockey's High Performance Training Center National Championship Tournament.

Teams from California, Maryland, Midwest, New England, Pennsylvania/NewJersey and South will compete in a round-robin tournament at the National Championships in Virginia Beach from June 17-24, 2007. The six teams feature National Team athletes as well as top college players selected to the Centers during spring tryouts.

Frates, a junior, started all 20 games and had 14 goals, seven assists for 35 points this past season for the Eagles. A native of Woodstock, Vermont, Frates was named Northeast All-Region first-team and a third-team All-American last season.

Young, a junior, started all 20 games. A native of Manahawkin, New Jersey, Young notched two goals, including on in a 3-0 win over Boston University.

Berkowitz, a sophomore, played every minute of every game this past season. She had a 1.71 GAA. Berkowitz was chosen as an All-ACC honoree and Northeast All-Region second-team selection. The Amherst native also received two academic awards - All-ACC Academic and NFHCAA All-Academic.

Boston College is also represented in the coaching department of the tournament as Eagles head coach Ainslee Lamb will lead the Northeast Team along with Providence coach Diane Madl.

Lamb's team will open up on June 17 vs. PA/NJ (7 p.m.). The second day of the tournament, New England will battle California (5 p.m.). The team will then play the South, June 20 (7 p.m.) followed by a June 21 showdown vs. Midwest (5 p.m.). The final game will be on June 23 vs. Maryland (8:30 a.m.). The six teams are reseeded for the final day of action on June 24. The championship game will be at 1 p.m.

Brenna Leahy was the sole representative for Boston College as she was a member of the tournament roster last season. This year marks the first time Boston College has three current student-athletes on a regional roster.
