Duke Field Hockey Signs Three

DURHAM, N.C. - Duke field hockey coach Liz Tchou announced three high school players have signed letters of intent to attend Duke and play field hockey beginning in the fall of 1999.

The trio includes Chrissy Ashley, sister of current Blue Devil field hockey player Johanna Ashley, from Plains, Pa., Erica Perrier from St. Lambert, Quebec, Canada and Sarah Wright of Bethesda, Maryland.

Ashley was a four-year field hockey letterwinner at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, Pa., helping the team to a 15-5 with 26 goals and 10 assists as a senior. She was named a first team high school All-America and first team all-state, also earning team offensive MVP honors. Ashley is a member of the United States under-20 field hockey team.

Perrier was a three-time team MVP as a goalkeeper at MacDonald Cartier High School in St. Hubert, Quebec. During her prep career, she recorded 22 shutouts in 40 games. A four-time participant in the Festival Olimpico Mexicano in Mexico City, Mexico, Perrier helping the Canadian under-21 squad to gold, silver and bronze medals.

Wright, a midfielder out Bethesdas Chevy Chase High School, was a 1998 South Region All-America, the Washington Post All-Met Player of the Year and Montgomery Journal Player of the Year. Wright also garnered first team all-state honors last year. For the last three years, she has participated in the National Futures Tournament.
