Jenny Everett, a senior forward who led Wake Forest to a Final Four appearance in field hockey last fall, was named first team Verizon Academic All-America today.

Everett is one of 15 Division I first-team members named to Verizon's Fall/Winter At-Large Team, which includes the sports of field hockey, soccer, swimming, gymnastics, rifle and cross country.

A Rutland (VT) native, Everett was a third team Academic All-America selection last year. She is a two-time first team NFHCA All-American and holds Wake Forest career records for goals, scoring 76 during her four-year career. She also holds Deacon records for points in one game (12), points in a season (62), and points in a career (186). Additionally, Everett holds Deacon records in goals in one game (5), goals in a season (27), assists in a season (20).

A four-year starter, Everett started all 78 games in her career. For her efforts, she was named first team NFHCA All-American and first team All-ACC the past two seasons and was tabbed as one of the NFHCA's South Region All-Americans for three seasons. On three separate occasions during her career, Everett earned ACC Player of the Week honors. As a senior, Everett earned the prestigious Weaver-James-Corrigan Post-Graduate Scholarship as given by the Atlantic Coast Conference to the top student-athletes in the league.

On the field, Everett led the ACC in assists, compiling 20 in 22 games. She finished the 2000 season with 60 points, including 20 goals, a number that ranked second in the ACC. Everett finished fifth nationally in points (60) and fourth in points per game, with 2.72.
