Eagles Continue to Earn Accolades On and Off the Field
April 5, 2006 Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College Field Hockey team continues to receive postseason honors from their efforts on and off the field. Julia Berkowitz, Mary DeFilippo, Bronwen Kelly, Kristen Madden, Meg Palisoul, Jillian Savoy and Caitlyn Young were honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) on the Division I National Academic Squad. The team was one of 50 field hockey programs in Division I to earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Madden was also a recipient of the prestigious Atlantic Coast Conference post graduation scholarship given to selected student-athletes from around the conference. Madden received the Weaver-James-Corrigan Award for excellence both in the classroom and the field. The scholarship is for $5,000 and goes towards graduate education. Each of the recipients will be honored at a luncheon in Greensboro, NC on April 13, 2006. Boston College will also compete in numerous tournaments this spring.
