Head coach Beth Bozman has announced the addition of Ted Baggott to the Duke University field hockey coaching staff. Baggott will serve as an assistant coach working predominantly with the Blue Devil offensive unit as well as assisting with recruiting and day-to-day operations.

"Ted will bring a great deal to our program -- as a player, coach and most importantly as a teacher of the game," said Bozman. "He offers a wealth of experience and we're excited to incorporate his strengths into our game this fall."

Baggott's coaching resume includes several head coaching stints with both boys and girls Under-18 teams in British Columbia. He has been a head coach or assistant coach in B.C. since the spring of 1993. In the spring of 2002, Baggott became the co-founder of Elite Orcas Training Camps, which was designed to have top level athletes mentor/coach younger players and assist in the development of youth hockey.

Baggott also has a vast amount of high-level playing experience. He has played the last six seasons for the West Vancouver Men's Premier team, helping the team to B.C. Premier League championships in 2001 and 2002. Prior to joining the West Vancouver team, he won a pair of Premier League championships as a member of the Victoria Selects. Baggott, a 1999 graduate of the University of Victoria, was a two-time team captain of the UVic men's team, leading the team to a second place finish in the Victoria Men's League.

For the past two years, Baggott had been a program director at the B.C. Field Hockey Association. While in that position, he was an administrator for the Men's Provincial Sport Organization, developed and implemented high performance programs for junior players, recruited and developed umpires and coaches, organized and ran local tournaments, including the National Championships and was an instrumental figure in merging the men's and women's provincial field hockey associations.
