Ariel Meyers was selected to the NFHCA Division I All-Academic Squad

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Senior Ariel Meyers and junior Lauren Crandall were both named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-Academic Squad, as announced by the organization Monday.

The National Academic Squad program recognizes those collegiate student-athletes who have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2005-06 academic year.

Meyers, a third-team all-american, is majoring in biology and earned a 3.28 GPA during the fall of 2005. Overall, the Lititz, Pa. native has acquired a 3.33 GPA, which is second on the team. A Dean's list selection and an ACC All-Academic Team member, Meyers was a core member of the Demon Deacon defense that allowed just 0.96 goals per game in 2006.

Crandall, a communication major, boasts the team's highest cumulative gpa at 3.58 and earned a 3.62 mark during the fall of 2005. A first team all-american, Crandall was also a selection to the Dean's List and the ACC All-Academic Team. On the field, she closed the year with the team-high 13 assists and added nine goals, including three game winners.
