Bozman Brings In Six Field Hockey Standouts For Next Season
Feb. 18, 2004 Duke University field hockey head coach Beth Bozman announced the Blue Devils incoming class on Wednesday. Bozman guided the Blue Devils to the NCAA Championship game and a school record 20 wins last season, her first in charge of the program. Next year's recruiting class is comprised of Marisa Burns, Courtney Elliott, Rachel Link, Cara-Lynn Lopresti, Shayna McGeehan and Caitlin Williams. "It's been a great year for Duke Field Hockey and this class just adds to it," said Bozman. "This group brings talent and depth, and they are all great people. Things just keep getting better for Duke!"
The Incoming Recruits: Marisa Burns (Ambler, Pa./ Wissahickon) - an all-league pick ... named Player of the Year by the North Penn Reporter and Ambler Gazette ... Philadelphia Inquirer first team selection ... member of the X-caliber club team ... holds state record as the anchor of her high school 4x400 team ... standout midfielder with tremendous physical talent
Courtney Elliott (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) - team MVP in 2002 and 2003 ... an all-state selection ... led her team to the state championship in 2003 ... competed in the 2001 and 2002 Junior Olympics ... a solid defender with the talent, understanding and drive to make an immediate impact ... her older sister played for coach Bozman at Princeton
Rachel Link (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) - a versatile player who can play in the midfield or on defense ... first team selection by the Philadelphia Inquirer ... led her team to the league championship ... played with Marisa Burns on the X-caliber club team
Cara-Lynn Lopresti (San Diego, Calif.) - will enter as a sophomore after transferring from Stanford University ... member of the U.S. under-19 and U.S. under-21 teams ... 2002 NFHCA High School All-American ... named the NorPac East Division Player of the Year and the NorPac Rookie of the Year ... led Stanford with 26 points, 10 goals and 6 assists last season
Shayna McGeehan (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) - played midfield for one of the top high school programs in the country ... a 2003 NFHCA High School All-America ... led Lower Dauphin to the 2003 Pennsylvania state championship
Caitlin Williams (Greenland, N.H./St. Thomas Aquinas) - 2003 NFHCA High School All-America ... played goalie on the U.S. Under-19 and Under-21 teams
