Virginia's Katherine Blair Named to USA Under-21 Field Hockey Team
Jan. 11, 2004 Cavalier field hockey goalkeeper Katherine Blair (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) was named to the 2004 USA Under-21 Field Hockey team following A-Camp held at the US National Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. Virginia teammate Sarah Miller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) was named an alternate to the squad. Blair, a former member of the USA Under-19 Field Hockey team, took third place at the Cal Cup as a member of the squad. A second-year at Virginia, Blair took a redshirt year in 2003 and played in four games in 2004 and did not allow a goal. She earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic honors in 2003. Blair was a member of the Tidewater Tempest in the 2003 USFHA Summer League. Miller started all 20 games in her second year at Virginia in 2003 and led the team with 11 assists. A member of the Philadelphia Fury in the USFHA Summer League in 2003, Miller has played every game in her collegiate career. The USA Under-21 team will undertake an international tour in preparation for the 2005 Pan American Junior Championships and the 2005 Junior World Cup.
