Oct. 24, 2007 No. 12 Boston College Drops Close Game to No. 6 Connecticut, 2-1 No. 12 Boston College lost its sixth game of the season to sixth-ranked Connecticut, dropping its non-conference record to 11-3, 12-6 overall. The Huskies improve their overall record to 17-2. Senior midfielder Tara Fernandes gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead, scoring her first goal of the season in the 21st minute of the game. She netted the goal off the rebound of junior forward Bob Dirks's shot. Six minutes later, the Huskies evened the score on a penalty stroke by Lizzy Peijs. Peijs notched her 15th goal of the season to tie the score going into halftime. Connecticut dominated the first half's statistics, outshooting BC, 13-2. They had six corner opportunities, but the Eagles' defense killed all attempts to net a goal. BC only had one corner. Junior goalkeeper Julia Berkowitz recorded seven saves in the half to UConn's Andrea Mainiero's one save.
