Terps Blank Delaware, 4-0 Thomas struck first ten minutes into the game off of a penalty corner setup by senior Alexis Pappas and junior Katie O'Donnell. Muracco scored her first goal of the day with two minutes remaining in the half with an assist from O'Donnell. Maryland led at half 2-0. Delaware's Michelle Drummonds proved dangerous in the first half with her performance. In the second half, the Terps came ready with an answer to preserve the shut out. No. 2 Tar Heels Get 11th Shutout Of The Fall Davids' penalty stroke came 1:02 before halftime and was her sixth goal of the season. The Tar Heels added one more in the second half, by senior Danielle Forword on a penalty corner. That goal, the 11th of the year for Forword, came at the 46:56 mark on assists from senior Riley Foster and junior Katelyn Falgowski. UNC led 22-3 in shots and 7-4 in penalty corners. Duke Defeats Old Dominion, 3-1 Old Dominion had a defensive turnover that proved to be a costly mistake as Ferger scored at the 17:43 mark off pass from freshman midfielder Chelsea Amsley. Ferger one-timed the pass from her teammate to swiftly redirect the ball past Lady Monarch goalie Kelly Driscoll. The goal was the second in as many days for Ferger, which now gives her eight goals on the year, the second-highest mark for Duke. The 15th-ranked Blue Devils (8-7, 0-4 ACC) were able to win the rematch against the Lady Monarchs with an aggressive offensive attack and a stifling defense. Duke produced more scoring opportunities by outshooting Old Dominion by a large margin (16-4) and taking advantage of penalty corners (5-2). Junior goalie Samantha Nelson continued her consistent play from yesterday, recording two saves and only letting in one goal late in the game. |
